Fresh Graft Program

The Northwest orthopedic community has long relied on Northwest Tissue Services to provide a safe and consistent supply of fresh allografts. As the demand for fresh allografts continues to increase, Northwest Tissue Services is committed to remaining in the forefront of providing these allografts on a custom order basis for our partner hospitals and physicians.

Fresh osteochondral allografts are often preferable as a salvage treatment in posttraumatic situations after periarticular fracture, or in lesions in which there is a significant cartilage defect. Fresh allografts may also be used after failure of other resurfacing techniques, such as microfracture, osteochondral transfers, or autologous chondrocyte implantation.

Several studies have reported positive clinical outcomes of fresh osteochondral allografting, but the use of fresh grafts depends on the age and diagnosis of the patient, the size of the lesion, and the number of lesions grafted. Our custodial documentation recovery process is ideally suited to provide the correct information a physician needs to determine if a fresh graft can be substituted for cryopreserved or other frozen tissue.

Fresh grafts are available on a special order basis only. Please download a copy of our Allograft Reference Manual for assistance with selecting available tissue types and contact a Product Services Consultant at (800) 858-2282 for special ordering and processing procedures.
